Sydney Altbacker is a singer-songwriter, composer, and arranger from Long Island, New York.  She grew up playing French Horn and piano in various classical and contemporary settings. She is currently a student at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music where she studies voice with majors in Music Theory and Composition and Media Scoring/Production. 


Sydney’s writing varies from contemporary works, to chamber works, to choral music, to acoustic folk songwriting. Growing up in a home surrounded by music, Sydney takes influence from a diverse repertoire, including composers such as Maria Schneider and Jason Robert Brown.  Her songwriting influences include that of James Taylor, Carly Simon, Taylor Swift, Sara Bareilles, and others. 


Sydney has a passion for spreading the joy of music to the next generation. She is a teacher for the Frost Preparatory Program and worked as a teaching assistant for the Miami Children's Chorus.  She is also a Co-Music Director arranger for BisCaydence A Cappella, an internationally recognized group, where she won best arrangement for her work on BisCaydence's 2023 set at the 2023 ICCA Semifinals.  
Some of Sydney’s accomplishments include a special award for excellence in the 2019 NY Youth Symphony Musical Theater Competition, and various composition and arrangement features within the Frost School of Music and the greater New York and Miami areas.

In February 2022, Sydney released her debut album, "All The Things" which has reached over 30,000 streams and can be found on all streaming platforms.


Sydney uses her diverse musical background ranging from classical to contemporary music to inform and craft works that reflect her as a person. She feels that a connection with her audience and making one person’s day better through her work is the most special gift.
